South Africa beat Pakistan in the second one-day international on Tuesday (Jan 22) in Durban to level their five-match series. Tailender Hasan Ali’s quickfire 59 dragged Pakistan to a total of 203 all out batting first, but despite a top-order collapse, the Proteas made the series 1-1. South Africa level the five-match ODI series 1-1 as they beat Pakistan by five wickets in the second ODI. What an all-round performance from Andile Phehlukwayo, who collected figures of 4/22 with the ball and then slammed an unbeaten 69.
“What you look for in new players is composure and calmness at the crease. We’re looking for big-match players. He’s smashing that door down for a permanent position in our strongest XI,” said South African captain Faf du Plessis.
“There were too many soft wickets,” Sarfraz said of Pakistan’s top-order batting. “Hasan Ali batted very well. We had a chance at 80 for five. We needed one more wicket.” South Africa dominated the early exchanges.
