Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui in her weekly press briefing expressed concern over Washington’s approval of the sale of an air defense system to New Delhi stated that South Asia cannot afford a further arms race in the region.
The US State Department approved a possible sale to India of military equipment including an Integrated Air Defense Weapon System (IADWS), the cost of the sale would be around 1,867 billion dollars. According to the Indian publication The Hindu, the sale was being processed under the Foreign Military Sales and awaits the approval from US Congress.
