A special seven-member police team , led by SSP District South Pir Muhammad Shah has been constituted to investigate the brutal murder of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Ali Raza Abidi.
Other team members includes SP Investigation South Zone Tariq Razzaq Dharejo, Acting SP Clifton Suhai Aziz, SDPO Mukhtiar Ahmed Khaskheli, DSP Investigation Clifton Raja Azhar Mehmood, SHO Gizri Asadullah Mangi, and SIO Gizri Ch Amanat Ali. The team will submit progress report on daily basis.
Earlier under custody guard of Abidi said that “I had opened only one of the doors when I heard the gunshots. I left that gate to go back … and the second door wasn’t open at that time”.”The car had halted and I tried to fire but it did not go off,” he added. “He lay back, to his side, with blood dripping down the right side of his neck, when I saw him,” the guard noted, indicating with his hands and body how Abidi was in the car after being shot.
46 years old Abidi was assassinated by two unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle, in Karachi’s DHA neighborhood on Tuesday (Dec 25) evening, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Javed Alam Odho said. After sustaining injuries he was immediately taken to the PNS Shifa where he succumbed to his injuries.
