According to the reports, The current political and economic turmoil in Sri Lanka has compelled to excuse itself from hosting upcoming regional cricket event, Asia Cup 2022.
As per details, The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has apprised the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about its inability to host the event.
The Sri Lankan media stated that the SLC informed the ACC about its decision, maintaining that it is “not in a position” to organise the Asia Cup cricket tournament in the country due to the current political and economic situation of the country.
The development comes after the SLC recently postponed the 3rd edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) due to the ongoing crisis.
It must be noted that the Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in August and September this year before the T20 World Cup in Australia.
