Stabbing survivor Khadija Siddiqui on Wednesday (Jan 24) regarded the Supreme Court’s decision of declaring the Lahore High Court’s decision null and void in Khadija stabbing case as victory for every woman.”
Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa declared the Lahore High Court’s decision null and void in Khadija stabbing case and ordered to arrest the accused Shah Hussain. Accused Shah Hussain was arrested to send back to jail where he will complete his five years sentence. The session court in Lahore convicted him for five years on the allegations of stabbing Khadija for 23 times. The LHC acquitted him from the charges and ordered his release.
While talking about the Court’s decision she said, “The Supreme Court’s [judgment] has proven that even if you misuse your powers, you cannot escape the truth forever. Today’s decision is a victory for every woman.” “The media played its role brilliantly. It covered my day to day case proceedings and played its role in preventing injustice.”
On May 3, 2016, Shah Hussain stabbed Khadija 23 times on busy street in Lahore. Shah Hussain was the classmate and close friend of law student Khadija. They ended friendship later. He managed to flee from the scene of the crime but was captured on a mobile camera by an eyewitness. Shah Hussain is the son of a prominent lawyer based in Lahore.
