The International Cricket Council has announced that it is continuing its preparations for the T20 World Cup in Australia scheduled in October-November.
Media reports in India said that ICC members had come to the conclusion that this year’s event would be postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic however ICC spokesperson denied the reports.
A spokesperson for the governing body told Reuters, “The ICC has not taken a decision to postpone the T20 World Cup and preparations are ongoing for the event in Australia this year as per plan,”
The ICC board is due to meet on today to discuss a number of issues related to the COVID-19 outbreak and members will also address the T20 World Cup, which is due to be held in Australia from October 18 to November 15.
“This is on the agenda for the ICC Board meeting today and a decision will be taken in due course,” he added.
