Google has appointed the Intel veteran as the head of its custom chip division.
According to sources, Google has appointed Uri Frank, a former Intel executive, as Vice President of its custom chip division.
Cloud computing has a promising future, but it’s evolving quickly. Amin Vahdat, Google Fellow and VP of systems architecture, said, “While we continue to work to meet computing demands from around the world, we are excited to welcome Uri Frank as our VP of Engineering for server chip design.”
Uri Frank has nearly two decades of experience in the chip industry, and he will now lead the American firm’s custom chip division in Israel.
“Google has developed and installed some of the world’s largest and most powerful computing systems,” he continued. Custom chips have been an integral part of this strategy for a long time. I’m excited to build a team here in Israel and accelerate Google Cloud’s compute infrastructure innovations.”
