A teenage gamer died from a stroke after a long computer gaming session in Thailand. Piyawat Harikun, 17, spent several nights playing multiplayer games in his home in Udon Thani. His long sessions finally caught up with him, when he suffered a stroke sometime in the night.
Jaranwit (Piyawat’s Father) said he had warned his son multiple times. Harikun was an excellent student according to his teachers and parents. Forensic Doctors believe the 17-year-old died from playing constantly throughout the night, which in turn, caused a fatal stroke.
The 17 year old boy’s body was discovered in the morning, by his father. There were takeaway boxes on his desk and a bottle of soda on the floor, while his headphones were resting on top of another computer tower.
“I tried to warn him about his relentless long hours playing games and he promised to reduce it, but it was too late. I want my son’s death to be an example and warning for parents whose children are game addicts. They need to be more strict on their children’s playing hours otherwise they could end up like my son.” said Jaranwit, as he wiped tears from his eyes.
