Microsoft said a recent update it implemented late Monday possibly triggered a substantial outage, impacting the connectivity of users to many Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook.com and Microsoft Teams.
The Windows and Office software developer said that even after it rolled back the change to minimise the effect, it did not “observe an increase in effective connexions.”
Nothing worked a moment ago, then I went through the Teams files and it worked, now nothing works. Ok, now I think I have an excuse not to do work and watch Television,’ tweeted one Twitter user.
“We are pursuing initiatives to mitigate this problem. At the same time, we’re rerouting traffic to alternative networks to provide the affected users with more relief,’ Microsoft said on its status page, without mentioning how many users have been affected.
Several other users of Twitter complained that the disruption meant they would miss their work interviews and college assignment deadlines.
The Xbox manufacturer also said that while investigating the root cause of the outage, they were trying to evaluate other solutions.
