The PTI led federal government has decided to hold talks with the protesters and TLP leadership to end the country wide protests and blocked of main highways and roads. The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting that was convened to discuss the law and order and political situation in the country after the Supreme Court decision to acquit Aasia Bibi from blasphemy charges.
A five-member committee comprising ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shyeryar Afridi, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and Mehboob Sultan has been constituted to initiate discussions and negotiations with TLP leadership and other protesting groups.
The PTI government seems to deviate from the hard stance taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan in his address to the nation. The prime Minister made it clear that nobody will be allowed to block roads, highways and to damage the private properties of the people.
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s hard stance gives rise to the speculations and rumours that government is preparing to launch operations against protestors. But government finally decided to hold talks with protesters instead of using force.
Some other religious groups have already announced to organise protests and rallies against the verdict of Supreme Court.
According to the TLP sources that federal minister religious affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri contacted the TLP leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi for the negotiations but Khadim Rizvi has refused to engage in the discussions.
