Tropical cyclone Nisarga hit Karachi in the form of a storm, rain, power cuts and high gusts of winds. The storm leaves one dead and 12 injured.
Different areas people reported a sandstorm coupled with thunder and lightning. Heavy winds blew of roofs and walls of some houses in different areas.
According to the reports, many feeders tripped and electricity wires broke due to strong winds. Almost half of the metropolis was without electricity.
Power supply was suspended in different areas including Malir Halt, Moinabad, Tariq Bin Ziad Society, Model Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Defence View, Mahmoodabad, Qayyumabad and other areas.
Earlier today, the Pakistan Met Department tweeted a warning that Nisarga had formed a deep depression over East-Central Arabian Sea and had intensified into a cyclone storm at 1700PST. Winds of up to 60 km/hr to be expected.
