KARACHI: Two more new cases of polio have been reported in the country. The one case is confirmed in Shikarpur district of Sindh province and one case of polio virus has been confirmed in Balochistan’s Suhabatpur district.
2020 Polio Campaign Begins Today
According to details, two more cases of polio virus have been reported in the country, 2.5 years old girl has been diagnosed with polio virus in Shikarpur. The samples were sent to Islamabad and the results showed that she was infected with the polio virus. The father of the victim says he was routinely vaccinated with polio vaccinations.
On the other hand, a 7-year-old resident of Suhabatpur in Balochistan has been diagnosed with the polio virus. According to the Health Department, the child was refused by the parents to administer polio drops. Balochistan has reported four polio cases so far this year, while in Sindh this is the 8th case of polio.
It should be remembered that in 2020, the total number of polio cases in Punjab has increased to more than 10. In 2019-2020 the number of polio cases has increased to 140 across the country.
5 New Polio Cases in KPK
It should be noted that the global polio eradication campaign began in 1988 and is now disease is near the end in whole of the world. Unfortunately, Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world, with Afghanistan and Nigeria infected with polio virus. There has been no new case in Nigeria for the last three years, after which it will soon be certified as a polio-free country.
