UN rapporteur Agnes Callamard will be traveling to Turkey along with Helena Kennedy and Duarte Nuno Vieira.
The UN human rights office stated that a team of international professionals will carry out an inquiry into the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist that died recently in Turkey.
Agnes Callamard, UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, have been reported telling that she will travel to Turkey next week to carry an “independent international inquiry” into the case. According to a statement given by the human rights office, Callamard will be accompanied by Helena Kennedy and Duarte Nuno Vieira on the visit to Turkey that will be from January 28 to February 3.
Kennedy is famous as one of the United Kingdom’s most established lawyers and is also a Member of the House of Lords. We have Nuno Vieira as well who is a professor at the faculty of medicine of the University of Coimbra in Portugal and an expert in pathology and forensic science. Together they make a perfect team for the investigation to be carried out.
