While Kharif’s planting season is in full swing, sales of urea increased 103 percent from 292,000 in April 2019 to 593,000 in May 2019, according to data released by the National Fertilizer for Development Corporation (NFDC).
Zubair Jatoi, an analyst at Aba Ali Habib Securities said.
“Fertilizer sales have shown a positive trend because of the Kharif season (April to September), which will also remain high in the coming months,”
On a year-over-year basis, fertilizer sales increased 20% from May 2018. In the first five months of calendar year 2019, sales of urea increased by 6%.
On the other hand, sales of Engro urea fertilizers remained stable at 141 000 tons in May 2019 compared to the previous month.
“Benefiting from seasonality, the overall fertiliser sector posted a positive growth in DAP sales,”
The largest month-on-month surge in DAP sales of 638% was enjoyed by FFC, followed by 316% for Engro Fertilisers, 202% for FFBL and 55% for Fatima Fertiliser.
