The 122nd Urs celebrations of distinguished religious scholar and Siraeki poet Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Fareed (RA) will begin at his shrine in Kot Mithan near Rajanpur today (Dec 3)) which will continue for three days.
Mashaikh and a large number of devotees from across the country reached Kot Mithan to participate in the ceremony. Mehfil-e-Sama will also be held during the Urs days in which renowned Qawwals would present mystic poetry.
Khawaja Ghulam Farid Koreja was a 19th-century Punjab Sufi poet. He was a scholar and writer who knew several different languages. He belonged to Chishti–Nizami Sufi order. He was born in and died at Chachran town and was buried at Mithankot, South-Punjab, Pakistan. He was known for his work in the Saraiki Language and popularising a language which is regarded as one of the sweetest languages of the present time.
