The feature will allow users to avoid seeing gambling and alcohol advertising.
Policies for countries where alcohol and gambling advertising are already prohibited will not change.
The functionality, beginning in the US will be rolled out to users in various phases.
Google has confirmed that if they do not want to see them, YouTube users will now be able to get rid of gambling and alcohol advertising.
The function will be rolled out to users in various phases beginning next year, according to a study.
In the first step, the feature would allow users in the United States to avoid seeing gambling and alcohol advertisements. Later, in early 2021, the feature will be extended to users around the globe.
Google added that those countries where gambling and alcohol advertising are legally prohibited would not see any improvement in their policies.
In a blogpost, the company said it had chosen to add the feature because both alcohol and gambling are sensitive subjects, so consumers should be able to control what they want to see.
Google said it had “heard feedback that some people would prefer to limit ads in certain categories like alcohol, so today, we’re launching a new control in Ad Settings, enabling people to see fewer alcohol ads, with gambling as an additional option.”
It added that some users will also be able to see such advertisements because advertisements are focused on the viewing history of users and are correlated with the content viewed on YouTube.
