All eyes are on accountability court as much awaited judgement of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Flagship Investments and Al-Azizia Steel Mills references against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be announced today (Dec 24). Nawaz has been arrived in Islamabad from Lahore on Sunday, a day before the verdict.
Accountability Judge Mohammad Arshad Malik will decide that whether Nawaz Sharif will go home as a free man or will be shifted to the Adiala Jail. Earlier court had had reserved judgement in both the references on December 19.
Security around the Judicial Complex in Islamabad has been tightened and according to Islamabad authorities one thousand Police officials and one hundred Rangers has been deployed. The trial against the Sharif family commenced on September 14, 2017 as Nawaz and his sons, Hussain and Hasan, are accused in all three references whereas Maryam and Safdar were accused in the Avenfield reference only.
