While speaking to a YouTube channel, Pakistan`s fast bowler Wahab Riaz recalled his vital knock against Afghanistan in World Cup 2019 group stage game.
Wahab Riaz said he stepped into the ground with an aim to give his best and leave the rest on Allah. “Sarfaraz came to me before I was going to bat.
Everyone in the dressing room was reciting either ‘Durood Pak’ or ‘Qurani Ayats’ and immense pressure was on. I told Saifi that I will try to give my best,” Wahab said
“We needed 22 runs off 20 balls and I was on strike with a fractured thumb. Honestly speaking, I didn’t know when Rashid khan released the ball and it hit me, I knew just when I heard a big appeal, “Imad Wasim came to me when I missed the first delivery and asked me why I took the risk to play a shot despite knowing that Rashid will bowl in.
But, I told Imad to stay at his end and let me play. Thereon, I decided to take a risk and hit the ball hard and I successfully struck a four and 6 to contribute to the team’s win,” Wahab Riaz said
Wahab Riaz further added that he has aimed to play for Pakistan till the 2023 World Cup, scheduled to take place in India.
“If I am able to execute performances for Pakistan, my ultimate goal is to feature till the 2023 World Cup and if I am able to execute my performances,” Wahab said
