Defence Minister Pervez Khattak says the decision on appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and members of Election Commission of Pakistan will be held on Wednesday (Dec 13).
Talking to newsmen, he said the government and opposition will reach a consensus on the postings by Wednesday. The Minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has already approached the opposition parties in this regard for evolving a consensus on the issue.
His comments come in the wake of reports that the PTI is gearing up to contact political allies and address their reservations. BNP-M chief Akhtar Mengal has been criticising the government during the past couple of days as he accuses them of neglecting Balochistan.
Replying to a question regarding legislation for extension of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pervez Khattak said the government has not talked to the opposition in this regard. He said the government will talk to the opposition once the detailed verdict of court on the matter is issued.
