It seems that a political storm is brewing in Baluchistan as differences between coalition partners and within ruling Baluchistan Awami Party (BAP) sharpen in last few days. The differences between PTI provincial parliamentary party in Balochistan and Chief Minister Jam Kamal intensified and PTI lawmakers are not happy with CM Balochistan.
The PTI Balochistan lawmakers complained to the PM Imran khan when he made visit to Balochistan few days earlier. Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind and other PTI MPAs conveyed their reservations about Jam Kamal and asked the Prime minister to remove him.
This was disclosed by one of the participant in the meeting. It is not yet known that what Prime Minister Imran Khan said in the reply. But he did meet with Jam Kamal after his meeting his lawmakers. According to sources, the group complained that Kamal was “spoiling the PTI in Balochistan”.” Apart from Jam Kamal, any chief minister from BAP would be acceptable,” the group was quoted by the sources as saying.
The sources said that there was talk of re-appointing Speaker Quddus Bizenjo as chief minister in place of Kamal. If the BAP changes its chief minister, PTI will accept their choice, they said.
The tensions within BAP have also running high. The removal of Saleh Bhutani as a minister local government has intensified the power struggle within BAP. CM Jam Kamal has taken back the ministerial portfolio from Saleh Bhutani. The angry Bhutani called the meeting of several members of ruling party to discuss the situation.
Nearly half dozen MPAs of BAP are not happy with Jam Kamal. Several ministers are also not happy the way Jam Kamal running the affairs. The speaker Balochistan assembly and former CM Balochistan Abdul Qadoos Bizenjo is also not happy with jam Kamal. Mir Quddus Bizenjo was a candidate of Chief ministerial position but Jam Kamal managed to win over the support of PM Imran Khan and powerful quarters.
Since then, Bizenjo is waiting for an opportunity to take revenge. The support of establishment is decisive factor to gain power in Balochistan. Jam Kamal has survived so far because he enjoys the support of establishment. It is hard to bring a political change within assembly without the blessing of powerful quarters.
Jam Kamal relying on the support of powerful quarters and PM Imran Khan. It is clear that he has lost the majority support in the assembly. The opposition is not seems interested to bring down his government.
The combined opposition consisting of JUI-F, BNP-M and NP can bring vote of no confidence against Jam Kamal with the help of disgruntled members of BAP.
The matter of fact is that Jam Kamal is hanging by a thread. The day when powerful quarters become neutral, he might not be able to stay in power. He will continue as CM as far as he enjoys support of the establishment.
The Governor Balochistan is already on his way out. Prime Minister Imran Khan asked him to resign as he wants to appoint somebody else to this position in changing political climate.
The premier has written a letter to Amanullah Yasinzai in which he said that he wants to appoint someone else in his place. “This, of course, does not in any way reflect adversely on your competence or performance. It is just that the transformed political challenges Pakistan faces at present require, I believe, a change,” read the letter.
