The Chinese city Wuhan, the centre of the coronavirus outbreak, reported no new cases for a sixth day as drastic curbs on international travelers reined in the number of imported cases.
Businesses reopened and residents set about reclaiming a more normal life after lockdown for almost two months.
It turned out that staff was waiting with masks and gloves to greet customers at the entrances to the recently reopened Wuhan International Plaza, which houses boutiques for luxury brands such as Cartier and Louis Vuitton.
“The Wuhan International Plaza is very representative,” said Zhang Yu, 29. “So it’s reopening really makes me feel this city is coming back to life.”
