Google-owned YouTube appears to have targeted TikTok as the streaming giant has now begun testing a way to record multi-segment videos running up to a maximum of 15 seconds long.
Found famous by TikTok, the 15-second video format is now gradually being pursued by other social media outlets as well.
YouTube announced its intention to try this week’s 15-second video format, which could be called ‘Shorts.’
The tests have begun with a small group of people on the smartphone both Android and iOS.
YouTube hasn’t disclosed any more information as to whether they will add more controls or features relevant to short-form videos in the form of filters, effects, audio, AR, or buttons to adjust video speed – that’s basically what makes TikTok today.
YouTube has stated that the 15-second video trial is not part of the Stories section and there is still uncertainty as to how the short videos will be found in the YouTube app.
