Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday (July 29) while talking to media, said that his father and former President Asif Zardari is not using Air conditioner (AC) in prison as it is not something big for him.
“When I and Aseefa went to meet President Zardari in jail he himself had the AC shut. When we asked him about this, he replied this was not something big for him. I and Assefa are asking him to use this facility.” “We will not compromise on democracy, 18th amendment, 1973 system and media independence.”
Bilawal also mentioned that there were no political prisoners during the past tenures of the PPP. The PPP chairman said Prime Minister Imran Khan should pray his party comes into power as they did not believe in revenge, warning of a severe outcome if the PML-N or Maulana Fazlur Rehman came into power.
It must be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan during his address in Capital One Arena in Washington had said that he will take back all the facilities including AC and TV in jail from Nawaz Sharif and Zardari after returning to the country.
On the other hand the Punjab government has reportedly asked Inspector General of Police (IGP) Prisons Shahid Saleem Baig to remove air-conditioner (AC) from the cell of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, though Kot Lakhpat jail superintendent and some Home Department officials denied having any such information.
