After a long discussion and protests from opposition, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar has issued production orders of Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday (June 19). Both the leaders have been under the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in separate corruption cases.
Earlier Members of the Opposition and government coalition parties including Pakistan PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Balochistan National Party on Wednesday (June 19) signed a petition for the issuance of former president Asif Ali Zardari’s production orders to attend the National Assembly session.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested the former President on June 10 from his Islamabad residence hours after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed Zardari’s ad-interim bail in the fake accounts case.
On the other hand the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday (June 18) rejected a bail petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique in connection to the Paragon Housing Society scam.
