The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) central executive committee (CEC) presided by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has rejected the report of a joint investigation team (JIT), accusing party’s top leaders of money laundering.
The CEC meeting, held in Naudero ahead of death anniversary of former prime minister late Benazir Bhutto waqs attended by Sanam Bhutto and the PPP leaders – Sherry Rehman, Farhatullah Babar, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Nayyar Bukhari.
While talking about ongoing, mega money laundering case against Asif Zaradari and his sister Faryal Talpur Farhatullah Babar warned the government over consequences after the arrest of Asif Ali Zardari. “We warn the government that arrest of the PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari would not lead to favourable consequences. In case of Zardari’s arrest, the subordinate organisations will be issued directions,” said Babar, adding that: “The government would be responsible for everything.” Sherry Rehman said “Accountability should be for everyone or else there’s going to be Dama Dam Mast Qaladar,” she warned.
The participants also criticised the government for its performance in the first 100 days. The CEC members reposed their full confidence in the party’s leadership.
