A woman has filed a lawsuit against her brother, the CEO of OpenAI, claiming that he abused her over a period of several years. The lawsuit, filed on January 6 in a Missouri court, states that the abuse began when she was just three years old, while her brother was 12.
The CEO, who leads the company behind the AI technology ChatGPT, strongly denied the accusations in a statement shared online with his family. The statement declared that the allegations were completely false and explained that taking care of a family member with mental health issues can be very challenging.
The lawsuit details several instances of alleged abuse, including assault and other forms of sexual misconduct. The woman claims that these actions caused her severe physical and emotional harm, and she asserts that she has had to seek medical and mental health treatment because of the trauma.
The CEO mentioned that he has financially supported his sister by helping with bills and offering to buy her a house. However, he also stated that despite his efforts, his sister continues to ask for more financial assistance.
He further explained that his family has tried various ways to offer her support, including seeking professional guidance on how to help without enabling harmful behaviors. The CEO said the situation has caused great pain for the entire family.
In her filing, the woman claims that the abuse continued even when both she and her brother were adults. She had also shared similar allegations on social media in the past.
The CEO, who has been a prominent figure in the tech world, is known for his leadership at OpenAI. The company made waves in 2022 with the release of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that quickly gained global popularity for its ability to create text and images based on user prompts. In 2024, he returned to OpenAI after being briefly removed from his position.
