The second edition of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup kicks off in Malaysia on January 18, 2025, and runs until February 9, 2025. A total of 16 teams will compete in this exciting tournament, which is set to showcase some of the brightest young talents in women’s cricket.

This year’s event is the second time the women’s age-group competition has taken place. It follows the success of the inaugural U19 Women’s World Cup held in 2023, where India claimed the title. Under the leadership of Shafali Verma, India triumphed over England in the final to win their first-ever U19 World Cup. Players like Richa Ghosh and Titas Sadhu were also key members of the winning squad.

Tournament Structure: Groups and Format

The 16 teams are divided into four groups for the initial round-robin stage. The groups are as follows:

  • Group A: India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, West Indies
  • Group B: England, Ireland, Pakistan, USA
  • Group C: New Zealand, Nigeria, Samoa, South Africa
  • Group D: Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Scotland

In a new twist, hosts Malaysia, along with Nepal, Nigeria, and Samoa, will be participating for the first time.

After the round-robin stage, the top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 6 stage. Here, the teams will be divided into two pools of six. Each team will face opponents they haven’t played yet in the group phase. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled for January 31.

The tournament will culminate with the final match on February 2, held at the Bayuemas Oval in Pandamaran.
