SZA recently shared her thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s latest album during an appearance on the talk show Sherri. Two tracks from the album, Luther and Gloria, featured SZA's vocals.
When asked about the possibility of collaborating on a full album with Lamar, SZA responded enthusiastically, saying, "I would love that. It would be incredible. He’s such a genius, and part of his brilliance is how elusive and mysterious he is."
SZA also expressed her surprise at hearing her vocals on both songs. She explained, “When Luther came out, I thought, ‘Okay, this is it — these are the vocals we’re using.’ The same thing happened with Gloria.”
Reflecting on the process, SZA described it as part of her "fumbling and finding" phase, where she fully trusted Lamar’s expertise. “I feel like he’s a huge part of this period in my career where I’m learning to trust and say 'yes' to new experiences.”
She also complimented Lamar's humility, adding, "He’s amazing at saying yes while staying grounded. Teach me, sensei, I’m ready to learn."
