Veteran singer Udit Narayan has spoken out about the viral kissing video from his recent US-Canada tour, describing it as an expression of "pure affection" for his fans.
After a short clip from his tour last year began circulating on social media, sparking criticism, Narayan addressed the situation. The video shows him seemingly kissing a fan on the lips during a live performance.
The incident occurred when a concertgoer approached the stage to take a selfie with Narayan and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. However, the singer responded by kissing the fan on the lips while performing his popular song “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” from the film Mohra.
In a recent interview, Narayan explained, “Why would I do something inappropriate at this point in my life, especially after all I’ve accomplished? There’s a deep and pure bond between me and my fans.” He continued, “What you saw in that video is simply the love between us. They love me, and I love them even more.”
He further emphasized, “Do you hear regret or sorrow in my voice? I’m actually laughing as I speak. This isn’t some secret or inappropriate act; it’s all out in the open. My heart is pure. If anyone chooses to see something wrong in an act of affection, I feel sorry for them.”
Narayan also expressed gratitude toward those who made the video go viral months later, saying, “They’ve made me even more famous than I already was.”
